- What IS Zeichen Press?
- The art of letterpress was born more than 500 years ago in a little place we like to call Germany. The invention allowed the written word to become the printed word. Quill and ink made way for lead and ink. Time marched on and progress kicked letterpress to the curb. The good ol’ printing press was left to rust away in scrapyards the world over. Zeichen Press is one of the handful of design studios to embrace this antiquated technology. We sleep well at night knowing that we are part of a dwindling group determined to preserve a beautiful tradition. We not only design every piece, we print it. We print it using cases of lead type, cans of ink, and big antique printing presses. Now, how many gals can say that?
- Does Zeichen Press ship orders every day of the week?
- No. Don’t be ridiculous. We ship all orders on Tuesday.
- Are sending cards in the mail as good as giving a big hug?
- Yes.

- Of course. We use 100% tree-free paper and 100% recycled. xxoo to the trees.
- What the heck is a CanCard?
- It is a hard-working card. A card that single-handedly transforms an ordinary tin can into a less ordinary tin can. Stop! Don’t throw that can in the recycling bin or (gasp!) the garbage. Wrap a Zeichen Press CanCard around it and give it a brand new life! It’s a card, a gift, a do-it-yourself-project, and best of all: 15 ounces of air never looked so good. (Letterpress printed on adhesive paper [crack and peel] and fits perfectly into a #10 business envelope. Comes with with corresponding/flattering envelope. Can not included.)
- What is this "mixpak" you speak of?
- Made of recycled kraft chipboard, our mixpaks are guaranteed to beautify the homeliest home-made CD’s and DVD’s. Printed on both sides for her pleasure.
- Is letterpress evil?
- Ask the bits of fingers left in the bottom of our press.
- Does Zeichen Press need an intern?
- Yes. We need an on-call-intern. Like a midwife. Sorting our type and cleaning our presses is just as rewarding as assisting in the birth of a new life.
- Are there funny words INSIDE the cards?
- No.
